St. Petersburg State University of Industrial Technologies and Design (SPbGUPTD) has opened three laboratories where they will develop domestic materials for the textile and other manufacturing industries. They will be engaged in the synthesis of modifying substances for the production of textiles, the creation of materials with bactericidal properties and the development of new methods of applying paints to fabrics.
"It is important for us to create such scientific laboratories that meet both fundamental and applied goals, because within the framework of the Priority 2030 program, the university solves the task of bringing the domestic light industry to the forefront. Our scientists have extensive scientific experience and have the necessary competencies for this. But the work of our laboratories is not limited to the scientific component. The commercialization of the results involves the introduction of the compositions being developed at domestic enterprises," said Elena Sashina, Head of the Department of Chemical Technologies at SPbGUPTD, Professor, about the prospects of new research sites.
Within the framework of the program of the Ministry of Education and Science of the Russian Federation "Priority 2030", a laboratory for the synthesis and research of modifying agents for the production of functional textiles and fibrous materials, a laboratory for the study of antimicrobial properties of fibrous materials and a laboratory for digital textile design were opened.
In the first laboratory, scientists will synthesize new modifying substances and materials for household, technical and medical purposes. The second laboratory will focus on the creation and study of materials with bactericidal properties — resistant to the effects of various fungi and other microorganisms that destroy products. In the textile design laboratory, specialists will develop the latest methods of applying paints to fabrics.
